Rehearsal rooms

Edgar Degas

The dance class runs through most of these. Girls at the barre, a ballet seen from the pit, tulle in pink and green. Around them sit the quieter ones: a woman ironing, a collector of prints, a portrait or two.

As a puzzle

The dancers are busy and forgiving, but the rehearsal floors are wide and nearly empty, so a piece of bare boards can wander for a while. A middling count keeps those stretches short.

A good size here: 100–300 pieces.
